The Herkimer Pub and Brewery is pleased to announce the official release date for Toripuru Stong Bock.
On Tuesday April 3rd, 2012 at noon, we will be tapping Toripuru, the strongest and most rare offering at the Herkimer. At 23% ABV, this is no normal beer; but Japanese Sake yeast tames the alcohol to create sweet dark fruit and rich cocoa tones that swirl into a warming sweet bite at the end. This is a rare beer that blends ingredients from across the globe to make a flavor like none other.
Come join us on April 3rd for a celebration of this unique beer, but come early, quantities are limited and this beer is only available once a year.

Beer Geeks, www.beergeeks.tv, stopped by earlier this week and followed our brewer through one of his brewing days. They were filming for a show that will air on December 11th on channel 45 at 11pm.

November 11th (11-11-11) we are tapping a Doppelsticke in honor of Nigel Tufnel day. We will be celebrating all things Spinal Tap and what better way to celebrate than with a new beer. Doppelsticke is a super-strong (“double”) Alt-Style Ale. It surpasses in strength even the Doppelbock, Bavaria’s “double” strong lager. As you may have guessed it, ours goes to eleven. At 11% ABV and 20.1 IBUS, this German-style Ale gives roasted and fruit tones with a slight alcohol bite that is subdued by rich dark cocoa tones on the back end.

“Gose is also interpreted by a few American brewers, including The Herkimer in Minneapolis and Cascade Brewing in Portland, Oregon. It was once common to add a shot of aquavit or sherry to this low-alcohol beer style; nowadays, it’s an ideal session beer.”
